The web hosting industry is not an eco-friendly industry. Just think about the amount of power that is needed to power the servers at all the data centres. In fact, studies have shown that the web hosting industry will have a carbon footprint as big as that of the airline industry in year 2020.
GreenGeeks, launched in 2006, is a web hosting company that is making an effort to rectify this. How does GreenGeeks do this? For each unit of energy consumed, GreenGeeks purchases three units of wind-powered energy and send them back to the power grid to offset its carbon footprint.
Besides being eco-friendly, GreenGeeks offers features that allow customers to get their websites up and running as easy as possible.
Unlimited hosting capacity – All web hosting accounts at GreenGeeks come with unlimited capacity such as unlimited disk storage, bandwidth, domain hosting, email accounts, ftp accounts, and MySQL databases.
User-friendly control panel – Customers at GreenGeeks have access to the popular and very user-friendly cPanel control panel. They can manage their websites, including adding new domains or installing new website scripts such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc, easily using cPanel.
Recommended Drupal hosting – GreenGeeks has been selected by Drupal professionals as the best Drupal hosting. In fact, it is listed in the hosting recommendation section of the book Drupal for Dummies.
Daily backup – All hosting accounts are backed up daily. If something goes wrong, customers can restore their data easily using the backup tool.
Top quality equipment – GreenGeeks’ Supermicro rackmountable servers are powered by Intel Quad Core Xeon processors, 24GB DDR3 RAM, 100Mbps connection to the network switches and BGP4 Gigabit backbone connection, and RAID-10 Storage Arrays. Together with the fully redundant and top of the line network gear, they provide the customers with maximum performance.
World-class data centers – GreekGeeks’ data centers are secured and reliable. To reduce the chances of power failure, the data centres have dual-city grid power feeds. This means that their power comes from two different power grids. In addition to that, the data centers are equipped with battery backup and on-site diesel generator. To prevent fire, an FM 200 server-safe fire suppression system is installed at the data centers. This system has an early pre-fire detection mechanism that detects a fire before it can do much damage to the servers. Furthermore, the data centers are secured by a biometric and key card security system, and rack-level locking mechanism.
GreenGeeks offers three types of hosting.
1) Shared hosting – For as low as $4.95/month, customers get all the features mentioned above plus a lot more.
2) Reseller hosting – For entrepreneurs who would like to start their own web hosting services, GreenGeeks offers 5 reseller hosting plans, all come with unlimited disk space and bandwidth. The prices are based on the number of accounts resold.
– Seed – 10 accounts – starts at $0.01 for the first month and then $19.95/month afterwards.
– Sprout – 25 accounts – $24.95/month.
– Plant – 50 accounts – $39.95/month.
– Tree – 100 accounts – $59.95/month
– Forest – 250 accounts – $99.95/month.
3) Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting – For customers who like to have guaranteed system resources, GreenGeeks offers 5 different VPS hosting plans:

– For $79.95/month, customers get 75GB storage, 1000GB bandwidth, 2Ghz CPU power, and 1GB memory.
– For $99.95/month, customers get 125GB storage, 1,500GB bandwidth, 2Ghz CPU power, and 2GB memory.
WebHostingReviewPlanet.com Review of Green Geeks Web Hosting
JaguarPC was founded in 1998 and has recently celebrated its 14 anniversary of trading and webhosting. This review seeks to explore what offers JaguarPC has available for its new customers, the good and the bad aspects of its services, and who would do well in choosing to do business with this company.
What Features Do JaguarPC Offer?
The main features of Jaguar are proudly displayed on their homepage, from 24/7 professional support, daily backups, 100% network and uptime, free domain transfer, affordable pricing and a 45 day money back guarantee. They offer three main packages: Web Hosting ($4.95 a month), Virtual Web Hosting ($19.95 a month) and Virtual Server Hosting ($109 a month). Now the prices on their website are not as cheap as they seem close up. Whilst you can buy web-hosting from $4.95 a month – that’s only if you buy a 3 year contact, without a contract it’s $7.95 a month. If however you’re looking for a long term solution then it’s an affordable offer. Even the basic packages at JaguarPC, offer unlimited space, bandwidth, domains, email etc.
What’s good about it?
A JaguarPC offers a 45 day guarantee so if you don’t like the service you can always cancel. Of course not everyone has this luxury of time and effort; many need a reliable host to do business without having to switch halfway through. Many users have reported positive experiences, saying that JaguarPC offers great value for money. Some have found that the customer messaging service is relatively speedy; receiving a reply with waits of three hours tops. The company is well established and it is hoped that they know their business well. The majority of reviews are positive.
What’s bad about it?
A lot of users have complained about their crashes in the past and some lost a lot of data during these times. Many felt that JaguarPC didn’t offer very good customer service and would never admit responsibility for these crashes. Whilst this seemed a big problem about 5/7 years ago, their server suffered another long crash in 2013. Some users say it was an hour at most, and understand that sometimes these crashes happen, no matter who you are – whilst others felt this was unacceptable. Whether they have fixed these issues remains to be seen, as it seems a consistent problem. Their customer service in general is flaky, being superb one moment and at another abysmal. I guess if consistency is something you’re looking for this may not be the answer. The most common problems seem to arise with the Vps packages. Email accounts have a habit of getting spammed, but JaguarPC are slow to act.
The majority of reviews are extremely positive and many users are blown away by the good service and value for money. However the bad reviews whilst prominent on the web seem mainly to point towards system outages and the speed at which they are fixed. This however is an issue with all web hosts at some point or another, but it is difficult to ascertain whether these reviews are unaware of the impossibility of having a perfect web host, or are actually comparing it to other
JaguarPC Review Demo Walkthrough by WebHostingReviewPlanet.com:
No web hosting company is perfect, but you should always get the best value for your money. You should be able to live with the company for the long term at the price you’re willing to pay. If your current web hosting service is not meeting your needs, 2014 is a great time to switch to a different provider. Before you sign up for anything, make sure to do your homework. How to identify the best hosting company of 2013? Always look at price, uptime, reliability, features and customer support—these should be great if not excellent.
Businesses that invest in a great hosting service usually see a boost in customer spending and retention. But this doesn’t always mean that the most expensive service is the best option. Consider the type of website you’re running. Is it a personal blog or a large e-commerce website? For about $1-2 a month, you can effectively host a blog or small business website. If you need all the bells and whistles, however, it’s worth paying $5 or more for a solid hosting company.
Reliability and Bandwidth
99 percent uptime may seem high to you, but it actually means 7 hours of downtime per month. Sign up for a service that guarantees at least 99.5 percent uptime and comes with a refund guarantee if the uptime drops below what is stated in the contract. Also read the fine print on data transfer and bandwidth use—your hosting company’s definition of “unlimited” may be different from yours.
Features and 2013 Trends
At the very least, your hosting service should support all common scripts that let you customize your website. If you have an e-commerce site, SSL (secure socket layers) and shopping cart features are crucial. While traditional shared hosting services provide these features, you’ll see virtual private servers offering them in 2013 as cloud services become mainstream. The beauty of cloud hosting is having a central location for all of your data and getting rid of the need to sign up for multiple hosting accounts. Hosting services are also jumping on the green bandwagon, as customers look for companies with tiny carbon footprints or those who derive power from green sources.
Web hosting review website Webhostingreviewplanet.com lists the following companies in their top five:
Yahoo! Web Hosting
The website ranks Yahoo!’s web hosting service as number 1. The name is the big draw for customers, but Yahoo!’s hosting service is surprisingly decent. It’s one of the cheapest hosting services in the market—for $2.62, you get free setup, free domain, 100GB disk space and 24/7 technical support. It also comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.
InMotion Hosting must be doing something right for all the awards it’s been getting (3-Star CNET Certification and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau among them). The price is a jump from Yahoo! at $5.95, but you get unlimited disk space, free domain and setup, Google and Yahoo! credits, 90-day money back guarantee and U.S.-based 24/7 tech support.
BlueHost has been around since 1996, and it’s one of the best-rated hosting companies available. BlueHost has only one plan, which can be a pro or con depending on your needs. For $6.95, you get free domain and setup, unlimited disk space and bandwidth and search engine credits. But the best part is their “anytime” money-back guarantee.
HostMonster is another established hosting provider. For the same price ($6.95) as BlueHost, you get unlimited disk space and bandwidth, free setup and domains, Google credits and award-winning tech support. Great for nonprofits and small businesses.
JaguarPC gets the highest ratings for pricing, which is a competitive $4.95 per month. The company offers free setup and domain, unlimited disk space and a 45-day money back guarantee.
Hostgator is the most popular hosting provider services and largest privately owned company in the world. It has now more than 8 million domains and 12,000 servers under management. The complete process can be divided into following two steps:
1. Generating Database details
2. Installing WordPress manually
1. Generating Database details:
• Login your cPanel and from Database block and click on MySQL Databases.
• Create a new database and provide a name to it. ‘demo’ is given in the following example.
• Create a new database user. In MySQL user, select a new database user and provide the name and password for this. Remember this entry as it will be used again in WordPress Installation.
Set up your WordPress site with HostGator now – click here to set up your WordPress site or blog with Host Gator
• Now provide this user privileges. You will be redirected to a window and select “All Privileges”
• Now select this user to manage your already created Database. Go to “Add user to Database”, choose from the database name and user and the click on Add.
This will complete the database creation. Now you need to add a domain if you have not created yet.
Uploading WordPress Files:
Now you can visit your “File Manager” section of your domain.
If you don’t have WordPress files then you can simply download it from official WordPress website and only in .zip format. Save it in your PC.
Now on File Manager window click on Upload Button. It will open a new Tab and select your WordPress zip file to upload from here.
Once file has been completed then extract the zip file by selecting the file and clicking on Extract from the top panel. It will then ask you to select the path where files are to be extracted. Don’t make any changes and click on Extract Files.
After the process complete, a folder might be created with the name wordpress. Move this folder to the main domain folder. Open the wordpress folder and then click on Select All then click on move. A pop will appear then chose the main domain path and click on Move Files.
It will move all the wordpress files to main domain so that you can install the WordPress on main domain. After that you can delete the previous wordpress folder and make it empty.
Installing WordPress manually:
• After completing the above step, you have uploaded the required thing to install WordPress. Now you need to create a config file. This can be done in two ways: either edit the wp-config.php file in WordPress or simply type your hosting URL and it will ask to “Create a Configuration File.” (Refer the image below)
• Fill out the information regarding your database you just created like Database name, Database username and Database password. Click on Submit after completion.
If all the information is correct then you will be prompt to “Run the Install” message. Click on the message and provide the login information for your WordPress Dashboard. This will complete the WordPress Installation on Hostgator.

Stage 1 – Style over substance
Stage 2 – Designing for online visibility
In Stage 2, the reality of an ineffective web design begins to hit, usually around 3-6 months after the initial launch. A site will typically get rejected by many of the major directories, not be indexed by the major search engines, or not get the traffic or sales that were projected based on the various types of marketing strategies used. Typically, that’s when companies decide that they will try to hire a professional online marketer to promote the site. Doorway page companies, in some way, shape or form, rear their ugly heads. Unfortunately, many web site owners fall for a doorway page company’s pitch because the beautifully designed site couldn’t possibly be the problem with low site traffic. Yahoo might have rejected a site, or the site might have been listed in Yahoo and the company cannot understand why they have no description next to their company name. But in no way would many ad agencies or doorway page companies want to tell potential clients the truth — they simply did not design and write an effective web site — because it would mean losing thousands of pounds in business
Stage 3 – Designing for your audience
By Stage 3, after spending an exorbitant amount of money on pretty web site designs and various marketing strategies, web site owners generally figure out that they did not design or write an effective Web site for their target audience. Typically, web site owners will bring in a usability expert to analyze potential problems and present various solutions. Bringing in a search engine marketing expert to help with search-engine friendly web designs &templates early in the design phase can save a company thousands of pounds in online marketing costs.
Stage 4 – Site redesign
After careful usability and search engine visibility analyses, web site owners finally have an effective web site. A site that is written, coded and designed for user friendliness and search engine visibility generally gets the most traffic and resulting sales because it was written, programmed, and designed for end users.
Web sites should always be designed with your target audience in mind, not your own personal preferences. Colours have meaning. Professional designers understand the psychology of colour and the use of white space to best project the image your audience wishes to see. (For example, try not to use the colour red on a financial site.) Understanding the products/services/information your target audience is searching for is paramount to designing and maintaining an effective web site. When you launch a site, you might have to make an educated guess as to what your target audience wants. After that, tools such as site statistics software and reporting from site searches tell you exactly what your visitors are looking for. Then content and marketing strategies can be adjusted accordingly. Unless the advanced technology clearly benefits end users, do not use it on your site. If your venture capitalists or CEO’s or lawyers like the site, ask if they are going to spend the thousands or millions of pounds to keep you in business. Let me know your thoughts! Please leave comments in the WebHostingReviewPlanet comment section below.
They’re not. Your target audience who will ultimately determine the success or failure of your site.

According to the so-called experts, a decent conversion ratio is right around one percent. In other words, one out of every one hundred visitors to your website converts to a sale.
Personally, I think you should ignore what the experts say, and strive to achieve as high a conversion ratio as possible. You should never be satisfied. You should always be looking for ways to improve your conversion ratio. My website consistently converts anywhere from 3 to 5 percent, and often converts as high as ten percent!
Unless you’re selling a big-ticket item and making $200 or more per sale, it’s extremely difficult to make any real money with only a one percent conversion ratio.
Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and if your website is attracting hundreds or even thousands of visitors a day, then obviously you can do quite well with a one percent or lower conversion ratio.
But what if you don’t have that kind of traffic – and most websites don’t. Then what? What if you’re selling a $20 e-book and you’re only attracting a hundred visitors a day to your website? With a one percent conversion ratio, that means your website is making a measly $20 a day. And believe me, that am much more common than you realize.
However, what if you could improve your conversion ratio to 3 percent, 5 percent, All of a sudden; you’re making £60 to £100 a day with the same amount of traffic. Improve your conversion ratio to ten percent and viola, that $100 a day turns into $200 a day!
So, how do you go about improving your website’s conversion ratio? Here are some tips that should help:
1. Make sure your visitors know what you do, the instant they land on your website. Don’t make them have to guess. Tell them right up front with a benefits-laden headline.
2. Make sure the design of your website is up to par, Make it easy to navigate. Get rid of distracting flash or stupid, meaningless graphics that are a waste of everybody’s time and take forever to load, Simplify your website. Get rid of the flash, graphics and pop-ups!
3. Use psychologically effective colours. The colour blue suggests quality, trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness – the perfect choice for sales pages. Avoid purple, which connotes uncertainty and ambiguity, and only use yellow to highlight key words and phrases. In addition, try to have as much white space as possible. This makes for a much cleaner looking, easier to read website.
4. Get your own domain name. URL’s that contain names like, “Geocities”, “Angelfire” or “Tripod” have amateur written all over them.
5. Prove what you say. Back up your claims with cold, hard, indisputable and verifiable facts
6. Put your name, telephone number and street address on your website
7. Use authentic customer testimonials, complete with first and last names. Just make sure you get your customers permission first.
8. Offer a fair and reasonable money-back guarantee. Thirty days is good. Sixty or ninety days are better!
9. Make it easy for your customers to pay. And offer a variety of payment options. I can assure you, if you’re using PayPal only, you’re losing sales. There are a lot of people out there, I included, and that just won’t do business with PayPal. It’s too much of a hassle!
10. And last but not least, make sure you have a powerful sales letter. A strong and effective sales letter can blast your earnings into the upper stratosphere!
If you aren’t capable of writing that type of sales letter yourself, hire a copywriting expert to write it for you.
Looking to buy a new computer?
Overwhelmed by all of the options available to you?
Stressed by the high cost of computers today?
For most people, buying a new computer does not have to be as stressful as buying a new car. Nor does it have to be as expensive. If youre like most people, and you have a limited budget for buying a computer, then you need to try to get as much computer for your money as possible.
Here are 3 simple ways anyone can save money when buying a new computer:
1) Shop around for best deal.
Sounds pretty obvious. But many people dont realize they dont need the fastest, most expensive computer with the most extras. In fact, if you are already using an older computer, even the least expensive new computer will be a big upgrade. If you dont know a lot about computers, you can learn a lot by shopping around. Ask lots of questions, compare prices, compare features, then find the best price. Shop at your local electronics store, and look for the best deals online. Youll be surprised at how much money you can save by shopping around!
2) Install your own extras
Many computers you will find in a store have a lot of extra software already installed. While this is convenient, it is not always the best way for you to save money. Also, while many of these extras sound good, you dont always need them. You can often find better deals by shopping around separately for your own software extras (such as a word processor, anti-virus, popup blocker, spyware removal, games, etc). And some of these you can get for free. So before you buy the fully loaded computer, ask yourself if you really need all the extras, then shop around to see if you can buy a scaled down computer – and get the extras yourself for much less!
3) Dont buy extended warranty
If you are not a computer techie, the extended warranties offered by the computer retailers often sound like a good idea. After all, who wants to be bothered paying for service on a computer after you buy it. But keep in mind that most computers come with a warranty, and most computer problems will either happen at the beginning (when you still have the warranty in effect) or much later (when it might be cheaper to buy a new computer). Technology changes very quickly these days. So consider whether or not its worth the inflated price of the extended warranty. And, if you really feel you need the extended warranty, then ask to purchase it at a lower price. Not all retailers will negotiate on the warranty, but some will. And whether you buy the extended warranty or not, make sure you back up all your files periodically, just in case!
If you have an unlimited budget, consider yourself lucky. And if you do business on the computer, make sure you get what you need, while trying to keep the price down. At any price, buying something that does not fit your needs is not a good deal.
Hope you find these tips helpful, and happy computer shopping!
Do you have a small business or idea that you would like to get on the web? This article will explain the basic steps to get your business or idea on the web.
There are many free ways to get an online presence but the best way is by having your own, unique, web site. There are a few thinks you will need to get this web site online but they are not very complicated or expensive.
The first thing you need is a domain name. A domain name is the address that you put in the address bar of your web browser. It usually looks something like www.somename.com. This is a unique name you will use to identify your business from the rest of the world. A domain name can be purchased from any number of registrars for under $10 a year.
The next thing you will need is web hosting. This is a service that lets you have a place to upload files and display them to the world when someone goes to your web site. Web hosting is another service that can usually be bought on the web for between $5 and $15 a month.
Once you have your domain name and web hosting set up, the real work begins. You will need to design a web site. There are any number of tools you can use to create a web site, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage, Notepad, or another similar program. Designing a web site requires, at least, some knowledge of HTML (or XHTML). HTML and XHTML are static scripting languages that you use to tell your web browser how to show your information. There are other languages you can use to create web sites such as PHP, ASP, and ColdFusion. These languages are more complicated and are used to create dynamic sites and interface with databases.
Designing a web site can be a daunting task. There is always the option of having a design company create you web site for you but that can cost quite a pretty penny. Another option is to install a pre-made web site script that you can administer from a simple administration. Some of these script include Mambo, phpWebsite, e107, and many more. A script like this, usually, still requires some knowledge of HTML and/or web design because they are highly configurable and require a bit of tweaking to make it look the way you want.
It may sound complicated to start a web site but it really isnt. All you need to do is take a bit of time to read some tutorials and examples, that are freely available on the web. You can learn the basics in no time completely free of charge.
